We were lucky enough to catch Vivid again this year. It’s so magical to watch the city light up! Here are a few highlights from the night. We got down to Circular Quay early and waited for the sun to go down. It’s winter here so we didn’t have to wait long. I love the energy when the lights turn on and everyone gets quiet for a second.
The Sydney Opera House is always a highlight.
Tim got chilly, so I let him borrow my hat. Nicola suddenly wanted to hang out 15 feet away from us to, you know, exercise her independence.
Then we realized it’s probably because of the sparkly golden threads that are woven through the hat.
They’re a bit glittery. This made us all giggle but it didn’t stop him from wearing it.
Then we found this pop-up candy place with a super weird vender called Mr. Poopy that served candy in plastic toilets. Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Pass.
But the rest of the candy (from other companies) looked delicious. We had fun pretending to eat everything.
This spot was actually roped off but we leaned over to snap pics. (So rebellious, I know.)
Then we wandered out to look at things we couldn’t quite figure out, but they were entertaining.
Yeah, I don’t even know. BUT the 100s of hanging LED paper cranes were pretty nifty.
Annnnnnd here’s a closeup of Tim and THE HAT.
At the end of the Botanic Gardens exhibit, there was this colorful light-up walking path that reminded me of a cross between playing Chutes and Ladders and the Simon game from the 80s.
It was fun! The end.
